Are you ready to make a move?
Maybe you’ve started to feel like your job just doesn’t fit who you are anymore, and you're thinking about making a change. You might be feeling low or even a little depressed about staying in a role that no longer feels right. Or maybe you’ve been laid off, let go, or downsized, and you’re feeling the pressure to find work quickly while your mental health is taking a hit.
Or, you’re exploring new career paths but you’re coming up short on ideas and can’t find a career that fits with what you know about yourself.
Finally, perhaps you believe you’re doing all the right things but you aren’t getting interviews. Or, you’re getting interviewing but you’re still not landing the job.
Whatever the situation, it can feel frustrating, disheartening, and hard to know what to do next.
DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?
Whatever you’re experiencing, you’re noticing the impact on your mental health.
Especially if you’re unemployed, you might feel anxious, overwhelmed, or embarrassed. Even getting out of bed in the morning can feel hard.
Your mental health is taking a hit either because a large part of your identity was your job or because you keep experiencing rejection in your job/career search.
Your motivation is low because you’ve applied to so many jobs and not gotten very much of a response and you’re starting to feel like giving up.
Your sense of purpose might be suffering because your work is out of sync with who you are. Even the work tasks you used to enjoy no longer give you joy.
Here’s what we’ll do together
Combining career and mental health counseling can help you move forward faster.
This might seem like a huge lift, but you can choose a career direction you’ll enjoy. You can help your mental health and motivation. You can find a new job. And I can help you get there.
Combining career and mental health counseling helps you do four important things:
-
We will work to identify your values so you can find work that is in alignment with who you are, helping you find a career where you feel fulfilled and satisfied instead of finding “just another job.”
-
Together, and without judgement, we’ll gently explore the thoughts, feelings, and patterns that are keeping you stuck. From there, we’ll identify your next step, whether it’s choosing a new career direction, tweaking your resume, or simply building your motivation.
-
You’ll learn how to make room for your anxious thoughts without fighting with them, better handle rejection, and work to stay in the present moment while practicing more self-compassion, even when progress feels slow.
-
We’ll focus on helping you move forward even when you’re feeling unmotivated or burnt out by making time for you to focus on your self-care. Progress can be meaningful, even when discomfort is part of the process.
ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A BETTER CAREER FIT OR CONSTANTLY SCANNING LINKEDIN Jobs DOESN’T HAVE TO BE YOUR STORY.
I’ll guide you through your career change or job search process, tailoring everything to your specific situation and what matters most to you.
Having changed careers (multiple times!) and having experienced a layoff myself, I know how hard it can be to handle motivation and mental health challenges. I would be honored to help you navigate what’s next.
FAQs
-
Great question! As a licensed mental health counselor I am able to go deeper with my clients than a career coach can. Being in a career that doesn’t fit and/or searching for jobs can have a huge effect on your mental health. If you find yourself struggling with anxiety, depression, lack of motivation, or even imposter syndrome, we can tackle all of those challenges through our time together.
-
Absolutely! When clients choose to take this path, I make sure to balance our time so we can discuss both your career/job search and the toll it’s taking on your personal life. We can even discuss challenges in your personal life that aren’t related to your career.
-
We’ll start wherever you are in this process. If you have no idea what you want to do next, we’ll start with some assessments that will help you widen your career options. Our next step would be to help you narrow down those options based on other traits you have. This way you’ll end up with a small handful of jobs to research further.
Some of my clients stop here and start their job search on their own. Many others stay with me as we fine tune their job search strategy, create or update their LinkedIn profile, update their resume, discuss networking ideas, and even do mock interviews so they can be more prepared for their next interview.
And some clients just need the job search help. We’ll start wherever you are.
