Is your job leaving you exhausted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from the people you love?

—-The impact of job stress often shows up slowly and quietly—-

Stress can show up in other ways that start to wear you down. You might feel “on edge” all the time because you’re feeling tension with your manager, the weight of unrealistic expectations, or a challenging or toxic work environment. Maybe your role that you once loved and were fulfilled by is now leaving you feeling numb, anxious, and depleted. Your work stress can affect you physically too. It can creep into your body, causing fatigue, headaches, or restless nights. It can even sneak into your personal relationships, making it harder to connect with the people you care about. As it gets worse, even simple routines, like getting out of bed or making it through the day, can begin to feel like a struggle.

Does this sound like you?

  • Just trying to get through the day. By the time you get home from work, you’re so exhausted and burned out that even small things like cooking dinner or talking with your family feels like its too much to handle.

  • About everything that went wrong that day or could go wrong tomorrow, things you’re dreading at work, and wondering how you can navigate your toxic work environment for another day. If you are able to fall asleep, you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t go back to sleep because you’re dreading work the next day.

  • At your partner or your kids over things that wouldn’t normally bother you. Your energy is gone, you’re irritable, and you have a hard time engaging with your family. Your mood and anxiety has led to constant tension in your home and you might even isolate yourself. making it hard to keep strong relationships with your family.

  • Or skip hobbies you used to enjoy because you no longer have the energy to participate or engage with them. Skipping these activities affects your work/life balance, making you feel even worse because you can no longer find joy and fulfillment in your personal life.

FAQs

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based approach to therapy that helps us handle difficult thoughts and emotions in a more open and flexible way so they don’t control our lives. It is a Cognitive Based Therapy but instead of traditional CBT where you’re trying to replace your thoughts, you make space for them while taking meaningful action towards what you value. The goal of ACT is to not only feel better, but to live better and more in line with who you are and what matters most to you.

  • People come to counseling for all kinds of work-related concerns. Some are simply dealing with everyday stress, like managing their workload, adjusting to a new role, or navigating difficult conversations or difficult people. Others may be feeling stuck in work that isn’t fulfilling, they might be burned out from constant pressure, or struggling with how to better balance their job with the rest of their life.

Some clients come to therapy because they’re trying to cope with toxic environments, chronic anxiety at work, or the emotional toll of being in a high-responsibility role. Others are working through deeper pain like feeling devalued, emotionally exhausted, or questioning their worth after long-term mistreatment or trauma in the workplace. Therapy for work stress provides a space to untangle these experiences, understand what’s happening internally, and move forward with greater clarity and self-compassion.

  • While there are no guarantees, ACT has been proven to work extremely well for anxiety, depression, and many other mental health challenges. It is especially helpful for work stress because many times much of what happens to us at work is outside of our control. With ACT, we make peace with that and take committed action towards our values, ensuring a happier and more meaningful career and life.

  • Because I’ve been there. I’ve felt the anxiety because of challenging and even toxic work environments. I’ve struggled with handling things at work that I had no control over. I’ve experienced amazing workplaces and the not-so-amazing. I can commiserate with many types of situations and have experience with a wide range of work struggles. It would be an honor for me to help you along your career journey.
